------ Foliage & Vegetation ------
Since the launch of Substance 3D Assets, regular update of new materials by the both by original developer Allegorithmic and Adobe itself has never stopped. And with the release of Substance 3D Stager, the new scene layout and rendering tool, models and HDRIs are now available for downloading, instead of only materials in Substance SBS and SBSAR formats.
In April, a new set of free materials has been added to Substance 3D Assets by Adobe, including fruit skins of lemon, apple, blueberry and cucumber flesh.
In addition, Adobe has also added foliage materials, which was first released in the plant-themed assets of its new Herbarium Collection.
According to Adobe, the foliage materials are parametric and can be modified as “verdant and vibrant, or brown and dry, sickly, eaten away at by bugs”, etc.
The Adobe Substance Asset includes a total of 179 free assets, including 65 models, 3 lights and 111 materials so far. Materials are usually provided in SBS and SBSAR format, HDRIs in EXR and SBSAR format, and models in FBX and GLB format. You may click here to download the materials for free.
------ Materials & Textures ------
Marmoset has released free new sets of materials to its real-time rendering software, Toolbag Library Drop 04 in April.
A total of 200 assets were added for all Toolbag 4 users with free access. In Toolbag Library Drop 04, there are 66 new Smart Materials and 58 new standard Materials, ranging from bronze, stone and weathered paint to foodstuffs were included.
In addition, 75 new textures, such as fabric patterns, stencils and grunge maps were also included. Toolbag itself is available for Windows 10 and macOS 10.15+, and all new assets will automatically appear in users’ Library window with a download icon overlay. Games art director and concept designer Alex Senechal has released a new set of three free 10,000 x 5,000px synthetic HDRIs mimicking real-world studio lighting set-ups.
