Maxon released Cinema 4D 2024.2, the latest version of its 3d content design and motion graphic creation software. The update includes a rich range of new features for various creation modulars, as well as many bug fixings to enhance the user experience.

Simulation

In the new version, new options are added for better control of both rigid bodies and Pyro simulation.

In Cinema 4D 2024.2, Deactivation parameters for Rigid Body objects can be set in idle, scales are adjustable for rigid body objects. In addition, "Damping override for Rigid Body, Soft Body, Cloth, Rope and Balloon tag."

As for Pyro, the realistic smoke, fire, and explosion simulation added in 2023.1, now supports "set time scale for density, color, rest grid, temperature, and fuel."

Animation

Add a new Key Reducer to "reduce the number of keyframes in the timeline" while making sure locked keys not being affected.

Nodes

New nodes including Thicken and Symmetry Nodes, Resample Spline Node that "allows you to interactively adjust the spline resolution", as well as the Pop Element Node, that "Pops the last element of the end input array" are added to enhance the geometry and object modifying.

In addition, the Asset Version Pinning feature allows artists to be "confident that they are always working in the same version of an asset throughout their pipeline, even if a newer version exists."

Closer integration

The update allows users to "imply drag and drop Adobe Substance 3D materials directly into Cinema 4D to create new Redshift materials", offers a seamless workflow for users who rely on Substance for their texturing and material creation needs.

Maxon has updated its integration with 3D Unreal Engine. This update "Cineware for unreal now comes with a datasmith direct link plugin for Cinema 4D," allowing users to export their 3D models directly from Cinema 4D into Unreal Engine for real-time rendering and gaming.

What's more, glTF format import now includes support for TRS attributes, allowing artists to incorporate animated objects in the popular exchange format.

Cinema 4D 2024.2 is available for Windows 10+ and macOS 11.7.7+. The update is available rental-only, with single-product subscriptions costing $94/month or $719/year.
