GPU+Aspera|Faster • Safer • Smarter

As one of the biggest cloud rendering platform that has served more than 400,000 users, there is an increasing need to migrate or replicate massive data between personal local workstations and many XRender cloud data center all over the world, making it particularly significant to transmit the users’ rendering assets quickly and safely.

Therefore, in order to improve the user’s rendering experience and increase the user’s data security, XRender adopts the industry-recognized transmission acceleration solution, Aspera®, to provide users with efficient and secure data transmission services.

About Aspera

Aspera is a high-speed file transfer tool that helps to move data globally at the fastest speed, regardless of any size, across any distance. With fast file transfer and streaming solutions built on the award-winning IBM FASP protocol, Aspera uses the existing network to safely and reliably migrate large amounts of data at maximum speed.

The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) that has traditionally been the engine of this data movement, however, has inherent bottlenecks in performance, especially for networks with high, round-trip time (RTT) and packet loss, and most pronounced on high-bandwidth networks.

Maximum TCP Throughput with Increasing Network Distance

With the development of new high-speed versions of the TCP protocol and TCP acceleration, which helps to prevent TCP flows from creating packet loss, and thus artificially entering congestion avoidance, and improves the long-term throughput in nearly loss-free networks. However, a catastrophic effect on data throughput will occur while multiple losses happen.

In contrast, in Aspera FASP the transmission rate is not coupled to loss events. Lost data is retransmitted at a rate corresponding to the end-to-end desired bandwidth. The retransmission achieves virtually ideal bandwidth efficiency – no data is transmitted in duplicate and the total target capacity is fully utilized.

The bar graph shows the throughput achieved under various packet loss and network latency conditions on a 1 Gbps link for file transfer technologies that use FASP innovative transfer technology. Bandwidth efficiency does not degrade with network delay and packet loss.

The core of the solution is the patented fasp transmission technology, which is a breakthrough transmission protocol that makes full use of the existing WAN infrastructure and general-purpose hardware. The transmission speed is hundreds of times faster than FTP and HTTP.

Aspera In XRender

In order to optimize your user experience and avoid repeated installation and configuration work, XRender has integrated Aspera into its independently developed intelligent software, and the transmission acceleration function is enabled by default. As long as the rendered file is submitted to the XRender client, you can enjoy Aspera's transmission acceleration without performing other operations. In addition, XRender does not charge any additional fees for Aspera.

Meanwhile, if you do not want to use the transmission acceleration function for some reasons, you can also turn off this function by selecting “default” in “Transfer engine”.
